Guttering Systems
For all Weather

Guttering systems vary considerably, from traditional cast iron and lead lined sandstone found on many older buildings, through to modern plastics.

Flat roofs, gullies and unusual shapes such as towers can result in difficult recurring problems, which require carefully thought out solutions. Considerations such as heavy snowfall or rainfall areas may require a modified approach to ensure the systems can cope with exceptional weather.

uPVC Rainwater systems

The materials used in the manufacture of the gutters and downpipes are highly resistant to impact damage, corrosion and vermin. They possess colourfast properties (BS 2782) and are fully resistant to sunlight.
These systems provide a cost effective solution for new housing, as well as replacing older version of PVC or cast iron which have run their life.

Styles available include:       Half Round - Usual 4.5" suitable for most jobs
Square Section -  As above, but with square section
Classic - A decorative ogee style
Deepflow - Use in situation with heavy rainfall
Industrial - 150mm used to meet requirements on large commercial                                                             buildings

Cast Iron

Cast iron gutters have been around for a long time and can still be found on many older buildings. We can replace existing corrupted cast iron with new, either as the whole job or partial sections, or renovate and repair the existing system.
An option of new or second hand replacement sections is available as this type of guttering is more costly than uPVC.

In many cases where the building has existing cast iron gutter system, the option or repair and renovation can be the most cost effective solution while still retaining the traditional look of the building. It may be the case with some buildings that have listed status or historical considerations that cast iron would be the most appropriate solution.

Sandstone Gutter

These gutters, often found on larger sandstone buildings are formed from bulkhead of the wall itself. They are usually lined with lead, although occasionally no lining is present at all. Due to there nature, they are difficult to replace with a different system and so must be repaired replacing the lead, or sealed with GRP. We can accommodate any repair or replacement situation using a combination of materials and techniques.
